Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956, is an American actor. He is famous for his dramatic and comedic role. He is an American cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born in Concord, California, to Janet Marylyn a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks, an traveler and cook. His mother was named "Fraga" and his father was English. Tom grew up in what he described as"a "fractured" family. He was not an actor in college and credits his inability to be cast in a college production with launching his career. He was an auditioner in downtown Cleveland for a community theatre play. Following that the show, he was contacted to Cleveland by the director. That was the point where his acting career started.
